Betsy Buglove Saves the Bees

Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a lovely day learning about plants and insects. After listening to the story about Betsy and her friends saving the bees we went on our own bug hunt. Some children brought along their parents too. Mrs Parkes led the way and provided all the tools we needed for digging.

The children found a lot of worms!

They used their magnifying glasses to take a close look.

We walked around the allotment and noticed flowers and vegetables were beginning to grow.

After lunch we planted up our own pots to take home, the bees will love these flowers.

We also decorated cakes with a bee design and of course tasted honey. Most children loved it best with yoghurt and strawberries- do try this delicious snack or try honey on pancakes
