What a fantastic day all the children had on Friday 29th June for our annual Sports Day at West Midlands Transport Club. How lucky we were with the weather too! All the children took part with great enthusiasm and the day allowed children to showcase some of the skills they have learnt in P.E such as Hockey dribbling, Relay Racing and Sprinting. Other events included the Dressing up Race, Obstacle Race and Egg and Spoon. It was lovely to see the children being competitive and determined but also showing great encouragement and sportsmanship towards each other throughout the day.
Thank you to Mr Wood and Mr Canning for helping to organise the event and making sure it ran so smoothly. Also, thank you so much to all the Wheelers Lane Staff who helped to make the day successful and all the parents who came to support the children – can I say an extra thank you to those parents who provided gazeebos! Congratulations to Griffin on winning Sports Day 2018! Finally, may I say Well Done to all the children in all Houses for participating in what was, I hope, a very enjoyable day.

The wonders of Year 3.
Well there really is no rest in Year 3. Class assemblies have continued, script writing has taken place, the durability of rocks have been tested and the grid method has been used for multiplication. We think we deserve the weekend!
Catching up with our friends
We have enjoyed returning from the holiday catching up with our friends. We have been busy building, creating and making our own story books.
We filled 30 crates for Harvest

Year 3 have been reading Gangsta Granny as part of our English topic which has been a real treat after seeing it at the theatre last Christmas. We have really enjoyed reading it so far and learning about Granny's squeaky bottom and passion for cabbage (and diamonds!)
Next week we will be planning and writing our own chapter for Gangsta Granny where Granny and Ben will be stealing the crown jewels. We can't wait to get started!
Visits to our school library have begun and we are able to take a fiction and non-fiction book home to share and read. They can be returned whenever they are finished will and will be changed as soon as possible.
Finally, could we ensure that every child has the right P.E. kit in school. This includes shorts, dark coloured joggers (for the colder months), a white t-shirt and appropriate footwear including pumps or trainers.
