Colonial Countryside Project

10 children from year 6 today visited St James' church in Leicester to present in a conference about the Colonial links found at a range of national trust properties around the UK.
This fascinating 5-year research project by Leicester University is helping shape the future of History education in England.
The children were filmed by the BBC and their insightful, heart-felt writing will be formally published shortly.
They are a great credit to Wheelers Lane and have received fantastic feedback for their writing.

Well done to all the children!

Year 6

The children have settled brilliantly into Year 6 so far.  They are already working hard in their Reading, Writing and Maths groups. In the first week, we started our Mayan topic with a fun Central American tasting session and the children created fabulous 3D models of Mayan settlements.

Next week, we are looking forward to our Residential trip to Woodlands Adventure. We've checked the forecast and fingers crossed, we should be in for some great weather.
