We have had great fun exploring the book Class Two at the Zoo by Julia Jarman. We have acted out being an anaconda and discovered it could be quite tricky to move in sync with each other. We also became budding architects when we made a new zoo to play with.

Welcome to Year One!

The children are settling really well into their new Year 1 learning environment. We have already started working in our new exercise books and have been trying hard to sound out words and write sentences on the lines!

On Roald Dahl day, the school looked at the story 'The Witches'. In Year One, we looked at a variety of witch characters and described them. We particularly enjoyed looking at the stories-Winnie the Witch and Room on a Broom. We created some great writing for our display boards-

This week we have looked at the story Titch. We also described him and tried hard to write sentences about him. We discussed our own families and many of us shared our holiday envelopes with the class!

In Art we have been learning to accurately draw our own self-portrait. We are looking forward to looking at our bodies in Science next week and our family trees in History soon after. Please remember to bring in photos of your family for us to look at and discuss.
