School Website 23.9.21

The Internet has so many benefits - it helps our children learn, create, communicate and have fun. At Wheelers Lane Primary School, we want to teach the children to be responsible digital citizens (both when at home and at school) and ensure that they have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to successfully navigate the online world.

Online safety is taught in every Computing lesson at Wheelers Lane. Over the course of every year we cover these 8 strands:

  • Self-Image and Identity
  • Online Relationships
  • Online Reputation
  • Online Bullying
  • Managing Online Information
  • Health, Well-being and Lifestyle
  • Privacy and Security
  • Copyright and Ownership

Occasionally our children may have to deal with a variety of challenging issues online. If you want more information about how to support your child in enjoying the digital world safely, further advice for parents and carers can be found on the following websites:

If you are worried that a child is being groomed or sexually exploited online you should report your concerns to CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection). CEOP is a command of the National Crime Agency and can investigate what is happening – with the assurance that the safety and wellbeing of the child is paramount at all times.
